Let’s face it. There’s nothing more refreshing than a cold smoothie on a hot day. Smoothies are a great way to pack in vitamins and minerals while enjoying a sweet treat. They’re also the perfect meal replacement when you find yourself needing to grab breakfast or lunch on the go. Here are a few of our favorite summertime smoothie recipes.

Breakfast in a Blender

The addition of grains helps make your smoothie more filling when you’ve got a few hours to wait until lunchtime. Blend 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats into a fine powder. Then add in 1 and 1/2 cup frozen blueberries or peaches, 1 cup vanilla yogurt, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tbsp honey, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon.

Beach Vibes

A tropical-inspired smoothie is perfect for enjoying while you’re at the beach or for whipping up at home when you’re just daydreaming about being there. Simply blend together 3/4 cup pineapple juice, 1/2 cup coconut milk, 1 banana, and 1 cup each of frozen mango and pineapple. Use a fancy straw or affix a slice of pineapple to the rim of your glass for a vacation-worthy presentation.

Post-workout Refuel

After a long run or workout it’s important to replace all the nutrients you depleted. A smoothie can help you recover, while also curbing any hunger your workout has created. A good iron- and protein-packed option includes 2/3 cup Greek yogurt, 1/2 a frozen banana, 1 cup frozen cherries, 1 cup water, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, and a large handful of baby spinach.

Energy Boost

Smoothies are also the perfect pick-me-up for the afternoon doldrums. Try 1/4 cup frozen pineapple, 1 cup kale, 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1/2 an avocado, 1 cup water or coconut milk, and 1 tsp of matcha green tea powder. That should help keep you awake until it’s time to clock out.

Sweet Treat

Sometimes smoothies are a good option because…well, they just taste good. For a healthy treat, try mixing 1 banana, 1/2 an avocado, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tbsp frozen berries, 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tsp agave nectar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
